چکیده
Supplementary note 1: description of reactions’ essentiality across species and environments We examined for each species the essentiality of its reactions across all its viable environments (all files are available on http://www.cs.tau.ac.il/~jonatha6/publications/htmls_to_upload.zip). The list of species/environments is presented in species_mapping.html, where each entry leads to the species-specific table describing the essentiality of each reaction (essential/non-essential reactions are denoted by red/green color respectively) over all viable environments. The list of reactions is presented in enzymes_mapping.html.

Decoupling Environment-Dependent and Independent Genetic Robustness across Bacterial Species
The evolutionary origins of genetic robustness are still under debate: it may arise as a consequence of requirements imposed by varying environmental conditions, due to intrinsic factors such as metabolic requirements, or directly due to an adaptive selection in favor of genes that allow a species to endure genetic perturbations. Stratifying the individual effects of each origin requires one to...
متن کاملA numerical investigation of a reaction-diffusion equation arises from an ecological phenomenon
This paper deals with the numerical solution of a class of reaction diffusion equations arises from ecological phenomena. When two species are introduced into unoccupied habitat, they can spread across the environment as two travelling waves with the wave of the faster reproducer moving ahead of the slower. The mathematical modelling of invasions of species in more complex settings that include ...
متن کاملDecoupling of genome size and sequence divergence in a symbiotic bacterium.
In contrast to genome size variation in most bacterial taxa, the small genome size of Buchnera sp. was shown to be highly conserved across genetically diverse isolates (630 to 643 kb). This exceptional size conservation may reflect the inability of this obligate mutualist to acquire foreign DNA and reduced selection for genetic novelty within a static intracellular environment.
متن کاملParallel changes in the taxonomical structure of bacterial communities exposed to a similar environmental disturbance
Bacterial communities play a central role in ecosystems, by regulating biogeochemical fluxes. Therefore, understanding how multiple functional interactions between species face environmental perturbations is a major concern in conservation biology. Because bacteria can use several strategies, including horizontal gene transfers (HGT), to cope with rapidly changing environmental conditions, pote...
متن کاملAn alternative bacterial expression system using Bacillus pumilus SG2 chitinase promoter
Background: Chitin is an abundant natural polysaccharide found in fungi, algae, and exoskeleton of insects. Several bacterial species are capable of utilizing chitin as their carbon source. These bacteria produce chitinases for degradation of chitin into N-acetyl-D-glucosamine. So far, regulation of the chitinase encoding genes has been studied in different bacterial species. Among Bacillus spe...
